The Met

The Metropolitan Museum Of Art in Manhattan is a beast of a building. It’s such a huge museum, you could never really get through it all in one day without sprinting. So many great paintings, and such a large herd of humans hanging out on the steps! The fashion of punk was on exhibit when I painted this painting en plein air, and as I was painting, a couple of the Project Runway contestants pulled up and got out of a cab right next to me to see the exhibit. This was my second random run-in with contestants from the show at an art event in New York City! I had to draw out the line for that shadow dropping from the roof overhang and fill it in long past the time that the sun had moved from that position. The shadow is considerably cooler in some areas from the reflection of the light from the glowing blue sky.
